Welcome to ‘Centre Stage’ our first ever enewsletter.

I am delighted and honoured to have been invited to become Chairman of the Friends of NYMT and to help launch a really exciting programme of events for 2012 and beyond.

It’s hard to believe that it is 35 years since the company started with performances in a tent at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Since then, some 10,000 young people have come through our doors, many of them going on to pursue successful careers in ‘the business. To name a few.

Plans for 2012 are now well underway with the kind of exciting and innovative programme we have come to expect, under the guidance of producer Jeremy Walker.

Plus a wide range of WORKSHOPS AND MASTER-CLASSES to suit all ages and levels of experience.

The past year has been one of major consolidation for the NYMT with the establishing of a Friends office, the arrival of new board members and the welcome addition to our list of Patrons of JUDE LAW who played many roles for the company between 1987 – 90.

Big plans for 2012 include the official relaunch of the Friends of NYMT as a way to stay in touch, but also to enable us to fulfil our aim of providing bursaries to those in need of help; to maintain our open door policy and to provide some stability to allow us to plan for the future with confidence.

The NYMT has celebrated many successes over the years and we can be proud of what it has achieved. Now we want to ensure that the future can offer equally exciting opportunities for the young and talented. I do hope you will feel encouraged to become a Friend of NYMT in 2012 and continue your participation in the NYMT adventure.

Clearly there’s a great future in being part of the NYMT!
