Dear All,
What a fantastic start to our season in 2007. In April, Caroline Leslie our new Artistic Associate, staged Fiddler on the Roof at the Bridewell Theatre after months of auditions and rehearsals. The cast of approximately 30 young people and the production team were excellent and this was endorsed by a critics review in The Times and the full houses at every performance.
Caroline is now working on our next show of Little Me for August at the Bloomsbury Theatre and she has already begun to think of our next season’s programme! Make sure that you keep up with our news including our summer workshops so that you can get involved.
NYMT welcomed Sam Sargant in April. He is our new administrator who began his theatre experience at the Watermill in Berkshire. Sam’s first NYMT job was to manage parts of Fiddler and he was brilliant.
It won’t surprise you to know that the NYMT Experience is mentioned almost monthly in the media. The actor Idris Elba said in 5 May Saturday Times that “getting a place in NYMT was a defining moment” and that he realised that he really did “have some talent”.
And what about Mica who had the best-selling single of the year? He too had the NYMT Experience.
Of course none of our work would be possible without Liz, our Executive Director who has worked hard to ensure that NYMT has a future. She is responsible for our fundraising efforts and has had many successes over the last year.
On behalf of the Board of NYMT, I would like to thank you all – our President, The Earl of Wessex, sponsors, Friends, performers, writers, musicians and production assistants – for your great support.
Maggie Semple, OBE
Chairman
